THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ON OUR WEB SITE HOW TO
BECOME A CHRISTIAN All of us have made mistakes in our life. We have intentionally or unintentionally hurt someone’s feelings, failed to take responsibility for our actions, blamed others, cheated on our income taxes, exceeded the speed limit, been insensitive to others needs and failed to be there for them when they needed us, etc. This is what the Bible means when it says in Romans 3:23 that “all have sinned.” None of us are perfect. The theological word for our imperfections is “sin.” We tend to group people into two
categories, “good people” and “bad people.”
We tend to believe that good people go to heaven and bad people
go to hell. This is NOT
what the Bible teaches. How
many people do you need to kill before you are called a murderer?
Just one. How many
banks do you need to rob before you are called a bank robber?
Just one. How many
sins do you need to commit before God calls you a sinner?
Just one (see James
2:10).
We are all sinners in need of God’s love and forgiveness. Some people believe they can get into
heaven by doing good deeds. Some
say sitting in church makes you a Christian.
Does sitting in your garage make you a car?
Others say belonging to a church makes you a Christian.
Does belonging to the Lion’s Club make you a lion?
Religion is spelled, “D-O.”
Doing something religious or good may make you feel good but
that is not how we get into heaven (see Ephesians
2:8,9, Titus
3:5,
Galatians 2:21). Real Christianity is spelled,
“D-O-N-E,” what Jesus Christ has done for us on the cross.
It is only when we realize that we can’t do anything, can’t
be good enough to get into heaven that we can then become a Christian.
This is what Jesus meant in John 15:5 when He said, “without
me you can do nothing.” Jesus issued an invitation to us in
Revelation 3:20, “I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.”
The door is a symbol of our heart and life. Jesus knocks desiring to be a real and meaningful part of our
life. He never makes
forced entry; He only goes where He is invited.
Have you opened the door of your heart and life and asked Him
to come in? If not, why
not now. You might
express it this way: Dear Lord, I have made many mistakes in my life and I
need your forgiveness for these sins.
I believe you paid the penalty for my sins (see Romans
5:8)
when you died on the cross. As
best as I know how, I open the door of my heart and life and invite
you to come in and be my personal Savior and Lord.
Thank you for loving me and forgiving me.
Amen. If you have made a decision for the Lord, please contact us. We would love to send you some free literature and a Bible. No one will call on you without your express permission.
